I will updates the latest news on my 'creation' as soon as i had time after CNY~

Solid pinion spacer~ (AKA crush sleeves)

Last week, my friend Arthur bring one of his AE86's axle 3rd member to me. And asking if i could help him fix it or not. For he had read that i had a few experience with my car's LSD/axle. And his was in really bad conditions. At first glance, the pinion and ring gear still in work-able condition which leave me to check out the crush sleeve's pre-tension on the pinion bearings. And the result~~ I was correct. The pinion gear is sitting loose in it's housing. which means a faulty crush sleeve we were looking here.

After taking apart the 3rd member. i compare the crush sleeve with my 'reference' unit which i made with a new crush sleeve and lock the pinion bearing until 60lb/f.

And Arthur's crush sleeve was 2.6mm shorter, yaiks~

After discuss with Arthur, he agree that he will let me made a guinea pig out of him bt making him a Solid pinion spacer.

that 's what i had made by boreing out the sleeve from a single piece of mild steel.

the standard crush sleeve is 1.65mm thick with a weaken ring to let it actually 'crush' when it's under tremendous pressure.

And the one i made for Arthur is 3mm thick and no weak point. Now it's cleaned, installed and send back for Arthur to install and tell me the result in his next Taman Selat Drift day~

So~ you may asking y went through all the hustle doing this???

This is the explanation i copy from a famous axle specialist in US call-ed Weir Performance.

"What these parts do when correctly installed is set the distance between the inner and outer pinion bearings (bearing preload). At the same time, these parts also locate the pinion gear relative to the ring gear within the casing. So, why does the crush sleeve fail? It fails because it is too weak to resist deflection when high pinion loads are applied. This is why we often hear people say, “my ring and pinion finally blew up”. The failure is not instantaneous as it would be if the gears were over-powered. The failure happens over time, due to repeated hard driving. High pinion loads deflect the pinion gear over and over until the o.e.m. crush sleeve becomes “loose” and cannot properly maintain the bearing preload. This also allows the position of the pinion gear within the casing to move causing misalignment of the ring and pinion gears. Over time, this leads to “howling” gears followed by “ground up” gear teeth and eventually destroys the gears. Protect your ring and pinion with one of our high strength steel solid pinion spacer kits."

Finally come back from KL. Really took some time off there and goes around to do some market survey.

And while i'm away, the wider metal plate i ordered also had arrived. So, i took the material and the drawing and send it to my neighbor.

And start milling out the desire piece to my bracket.

With their 5 horse power mean machine.

That's carbite steel cutter he's using. slicing through the metal like tou-fu~ wow.

received it after 5 hours of labour (>_<) that's 40bucks/hour. Do the maths.

some slight alteration and on it goes. All the holes fit perfectly.

And finally, it's welded together and a brief comparison with V0.09~ spot any different?

And give it a nice red coat to at least protect it from rust.

All done and with *12.3 lb/in rated allen-key bolt with zinc coated nuts. It had 2 level setting which is 42mm offset and 64mm offsets.

AE86 rear Traction bracket prototyping~ V.09

When i was in KGC last week, some KE friends approached me and ask if i can made them something which catch-ed my interest.

A traction bracket which installed under the axle where adjust the traction rod lower to point downward which will help pushing the axle on the ground during acceleration.

So after coming home and done some homework later~ i decided to made a prototype first to try on mango. And since i had a spare axle lying around. So i take it as my 'model' to fashion the brackets.

After much consideration i decided to work it out from 6mm think of steel (which is the thickest metal i had in my factory) for it would take up a lot of stredd during hard cornering/drifting~

Steps by steps measure out the holes on the axle and precisely drill the hole out to screw on to the axle.

final testing before weld them together with another piece of steel to add strength.

Finally them become one~ i only use normal arc welding here for my MIG will only be coming in January next year~ so the final products will have stronger bond~

finally give my prototype V0.9 a bright RED coat to make it stand out from the dirty old axle~ :P lol~

Will do a test report later when i fix mango's axle, yet again~

KGC - 18-12-2011 Taj Collage Race event~ Part 2

After almost 4 hours of timing for race grid *super slow and time consuming for they only had one GPS unit. and the originally 3 laps running - warm-up lap, flying lap, and cool down lap; was cut short to 2 laps, only warm up lap and cool down lap. Which cause a few cars with weaker brake mod to almost ran out from the runway for we were force to make a U-turn at the entry of the S corners which is about 70M from the finishing line.

At 3pm finally all the cars had line up for the first 1.3L class race~

Han is warming up his KP's engine~ had to keep his foot on the throttler cause it's webber is running very rich~ lol

And check out the front formula tires from those 1.6L FJ race car~ Love it's Michelin logo~

Another familiar face from the MME race this year~ Federal FZ-201 semi-slick tyre~

Sorry wasn't able to get a good shot on the 1.3L race, was trying out panning shot which almost all went south~

And the big eyes catcher of the day~ Wawa~ brought to you by Chan Brother - Penang.

The satria 1.3 and saga BLM were boogie-ing fast~

And han's KP were chasing it's heart out~

And what had i said earlier..... han's KP heart were "out" oil temp went over the 150 mark and he had to retired early from the race. And a quick look at the engine, it wasn't looking good. The oil seal were leaking oil severely.

After that's it's the satria Neo class~ (with a BLM mix in) And there's a lady driver taking part as well~

Where she were second last and maybe were pushing her car a littler over the edge, and we can see a lot of smokes came from her car in the last lap, when trying to run away from the last car. And from the amount of it, i speculate that her car maybe get a blown gasket/broken con-road or piston or the all time famous broken cam pro Gen 1 crank shaft.

And 2 corners later, she ramp into the tyre wall and stalled. Later we could see black smokes which we get when burning rubbers. And all the racers rush over to check her out.

And one of the driver bring her back to the grand stand. As where all the busy body surrounded the car to take a peek at the conditions of the driver. Which i wasn't really please with them was when the person who was giving first aid to her, (she was unconscious and had an asthma attack) shouting to the crowd to clear up and give her space and fresh air, the crowd still closing in to get a better shot with their cellphone camera.

It was 15 minutes later and with kind-reminder from us, the organizer only to get the fire extinguisher from the circuit's office and rush to the burning car to try to put the fire out.

But it's was all too late for the neo. We could only look from a far where it burns to the ground.

The fire engine only arrived 40 minutes later after the fire started. And the rain had start pouring down on us. I dun get to take any pictures for it's pouring hard and i was packing to go home cause it's already nearly 5pm. We still had a 2.5 hours drive home and a dinner stop to do.

Reaching home after 3 hours of driving @ 9pm+ for mango's axle wasn't working as smoothly as it should be. Will took it apart again later to check what is the cause of it.

Btw, just a small info for you all. They had accepted 112 cars into the race that day. (Where i purposely waited to be the last car to be inspected and numbered) which is way way above KGC's capacity. I can say me and a few of my friends agreed that we were comfort with 30~40 cars and a maximum number of 50 cars to take part in KGC's track day.

Which this is surely the least organize track day i had been to KGC so far~

KGC - 18-12-2011 Taj Collage Race event~ Part 1

It's early morning when we reach the half way mark of our journey~ a small town name Bruas. We stop at the morning market to pack some food for our breakfast.

Peaceful little town indeed~

Finally arrived and park our car before start to roam around looking for friends.* Btw, it's Steve's car in the pic with a 1.5L mineral water on it~ lol

And first thing that catch my ear was this odd little car with odd mod and giving away odd sounds~

Ppl already start getting busy the time we reach KGC around 9 in the morning. Lot's of people had shown up indeed~

Car's from the organizer. Now blocking the circuit to stop cars from fooling in the track while registering~

Reporting ourself in~ with han in the picture~

And after that a slight briefing~ And i do means SLIGHT~ Only to mention two things, helmets and safety belts. They didn't even mention the flag system, hand sign going in and out, overtaking during the training laps.

After the short briefing it's time for tyre change~ With my Old 2005 Yokohama A048 in the front and old 2008 AD07 in the rear~ Not really the ideal rubbers to get to time but to have good times~ (^_−)−☆

And not to forget to show you all a little something i made E day earlier to scoop wind into mango~ for me of course~ lol~ BE WARN~! make sure you were wearing Full Face helmet, if not the sand scoop up from the front car's semi/slick tyre will flew all over your face~!

An old face in KGC, Ah KUN with his furious AE92~ which not so furious that day~ :P due to a broken gear lever. Which he had to retired early~

And few more friends arrived a littler later and caught in the heavy traffic jam in the KGC compound. And it was a chaos all over the compound. No one controlling the traffic, No one control the entry and exit to the track, No one to flag out ppl who was fooling in the track~ And a lot of them were driving dangerously, especially to those under power car drivers.

I only get to do one practice round for like 4 laps, just enough for my tyre to warm ups~ And a few others who came later didn't get to practice at all~ And the practice session was a total disasters~ Car's from diff categories going in at the same time. I was blocked by a few cars, a few times. Which they didn't had the decency to let me pass. As it's a common knowledge to let ppl with faster car to pass us on open straight or wide corners with proper hand sign during training sessions. Plus there's no personal to guide the cars from going in and out from the track. Once me and another car almost bang an idiot who rush out from the pit as we were passing the starting lines @ full throttler~ which is just a mere 25m a part!

Finally took out my old year 05 Neova A048 and 08 Neova AD07 out~ check the tyre pressure~ pump them up with N2~ and load them into mango~ and were ready to hit the road tomorrow early morning to Kampung Gajah Circuit (KGC) ~ had to kick in early~ good night everyone~

Mango revived~! for the dunno how many time :P~

Finish install the Zenki LSD and axle shaft. And let the LSD run in for a few days already. Today i finally give it a shot and see how it perform.

So far so good i would say. But it still makes a bit of noise when turning and with gear engaged. The *new LSD seems to lock-up fairly easy. I manage to start sliding mango's tail @ about 3800~4000 rpm (no clutch kick). Will drive for a few more days and see how's the cling-king sound will continues.

Btw, my custom rear traction bracket is almost done~ will post the image when it's installed. (Prototype quality :P)

Finally my replacement axle shaft and LSD arrived. Had to source another LSD for i wash't able to find a Kouki shaft so i had to compromise with Zenki one, Which on top is Kouki shaft with 25mm diameter and at the side is Zenki shaft with 24mm diameter.

a close look~ the Zenki mechanical LSD uses 4 springs to pre-tension the clutches.

After the 'PIAK' sound, i still manage to reversed the car in front of my factory and after jacking up mango, i check for any visible physical brokerage.

With no visible damage, i then check mango's wheels. And to my 'horror' the left wheels is spinning 'happily' without any drags.

And this is what i saw after i took out the axle shaft.

Comparison with the other side, clearly shows you that what had missing from the tip of it~ For the other end is stuck-ed in the LSD, i had to cut off a portion of the broken shaft in order to be able to tow mango to my friend's workshop.

And call-up my uncle to tow mango~

Mango sure can catch someone's eyes~ ^_^~

After taking the LSD out and removed the debris. It's time to hunt for a replacement axle shaft.

PIAK~!!! Oh no..... something broken-ed (>_<)~

Yesterday while testing out something to stabilize mango's engine and when i was fooling with the clutch (launching mango from stand still) A loud "PIAK" sound came from behind mango and then start giving out croke-croke noise~

At first i thought it was the new upper short torsion bar i made broke~ but after much inspection i found out that my left wheels was spinning freely O_o ~ oh no⋯⋯

And after taking apart my AE86 axle and this is what greet-ed me~

After some tweaking to the ECU and some secret electric controller(will told you later) mango's engine mounting cannot withstand the twisting force of the engine anymore and finally give way... and the engine is rattling like hell whenever i try to launch my car from standstill, and whenever i try to spin my rear wheels in a corner.

And after much considerations for engine stability stuff~ i almost forgot what my expertise is. LoL~ Absorbers! So i can just make one and counter out the twisting force of the torque from the engine.

200lb+ of bounce and re-bounce force to hold my engine in place instead on try to tear itself off the engine mounting~ lol~ it's my first try though. Hope it would work out well~ (finger crossed)

hm~ think i should put it a little higher.

btw~ it's 3 weeks countdown to KGC track day~ and still got more to prepare~ GOGOGO~ aiming for 52sec flat track timing this trip. To broke my old 53.2 sec. One steps further~ (^.^)

RSM testing~

Having dug put my Apexi RSM (RevSpeedMeter) which had been lying in my house for almost 2 years~ and have it installed by Mcguyver last week. And having tweak it to 1% accurate for the speed reading via 2 unit of GPS, i took it for a 0-100km/h sprint test. And the fastest i get with my heavy fully furnish car.

At 1030kg+driver - me (76kg) this is the best result i get with all 4 195/50R15 Maxxis MAZ-1 which is street tyres. Will try put on my A048 a take another reading when free.

"Drift Playground" Report~

I arrive at the scene as told by Arthur by 6PM and what come into my eyes was a set-up-ed parking lot with all the fencing on =_=||| ⋯⋯

And they had already begun playing from 3PM ~ by the time i reached there, Arthur had already finish 6 pieces of tyres. Changing into his 7th and 8th~ deng.

First action i saw at the playground~ An unknown engine KE70 VS SR20 TE72

he manage to play the whole hours on those two tyre only~ sweet~

And i spend 1.5 hours driving from Simpang-empat to Jawi via highway~ Had to take a stop at jawi R&R for the racing clutch is killing my legs.

After a small test on the playground, only to find out that mango wasn't set-up to play in a place so small. The gear ration wasn't responding well on the small space. Where everyone was drifting on 2nd 4000~6000 rpm. Mango can only pull around 3500~5000 at the same corners, same speed. Well under mango's power band.

Now i've had a wild idea to build a 4age-20v KE70 if my friend can spare me his car~ hahaha. Stay tune.

Finally~ after much tuning and testing~ i had finally finalize some of the specs for my custom tune-d absorber. And already received several orders from all around peninsular Malaysia. Here's some candy for ya all~

Got a call yesterday from my friend Keong~ and ask me to go to his shop asap~ and 15 minutes later~ and this was i saw......

it's his supplier's demo car~ a kancil to be accurate~ with 3002 watts RMS on board and 4 big ass 15" custom made subwoofer for SPL competition.

And this baby just pump-ed out 149.9db@3ft during the competition in Johor last month.

That's what i heard from 50ft away from keong's shop~ (>_<) damn it's loud~

Skimming a disc~ with your car's own power~

Was in PohNee's place this afternoon~ just hanging around (T_T) since business is slow this festive season....~ And i finally meet the brake disc skimming fella for the first time~ ^^

* only to find out you can actually buy this tools off the shelf.... *_*

The tools is secured to the two lugs where the original brake caliper were.

then set the correct off sets for both carbide steel knife for the both side.

where the knifes will only 'touch' the disc a bit~ then start your engine~ and set in to 3~4th gear and let it maintain rev 2~3k~ and slowly 'screw' in the knifes~

and slowly repeat the skimming process until the surface is even~

walla~ nice clean-n-flat surface~

LSD- Fix?? or not.... (>_<)~

Finally i had time to took apart the LSD to see what's cause of the non-locking-up issue~

And as always~ there's a miss understanding where the non TRD type LSD on AE86 axle is 1.5 way~

But from Toyota website, there's only 2-way LSD and non-LSD type differential installed on AE86. And it was conformed by the two sloped side pressure plate.

And 3 tiny whinny clutch in it~ XD~

And i wanna test something on the LSD, as making some groove on it~ see if it will improved the 'clutch' power~

And 3mm spacer added to the spring to increase the pre-load on the clutches~

And where i found out that it might be the culprit which causes the problem. A shim which press on the pinion gear which press on the clutches system wasn't installed correctly...hm~ seems like someone had fiddle with this LSD before~ lol~ but with a little skim and hammer, it's back to it's good stage to installed back to the LSD~

Walla~ everything put back to it's own place~ hopefully can test it out on the next change i took apart mango's axle~

Flip~ Flip~ Away~

After the slight incident (click here) a few weeks ago~ a 95feet long skid mark (ja~ i went and measured it~ XD) had created two flat spot @ the front tyre~ And mango was galloping like a pony since then~ (>_<)

So i finally took mango and went to transfer the front tyre to the rear rim (can't swap it for the rims is 7jj offset +8 in front and 7.5jj +12 rear~)

Since mango had all his 4 legs off the ground~ i might as well do a little inspections to the suspension and breaking systems~

The front strut did looks like it had took a lot of thrashing from 3 year+ of driving and track events~

The new brake-pad still had a good 50% left~ so, no worries there~

The rear disc looks like it had slight rust residue on it, shown that the caliper clamping power wasn't strong enough. After much research after the incident, i found out that there's a proportionate valve in front of the chassis which limited the brake fluid's flow to the rear caliper. Will had it removed later when send to McGuyver for tunings.

And there's the galloping pony true face. Not showing well on the picture. But it's a 3mm thinner than the rubber around it~ (^o^) actually a bit heart-aching seeing it like that~

Selamat berpuasa to all my muslim friends out there~ and with the month of fasting. Which means a small drop in business where i would have a bit of time working on my own stuff.

As in the photo shown, i just took apart my spare AE86 axle. hoho~

the drive shaft is 24mm shown that it's a AE86 Kouki.

The T-18 LSD is going into the house~ ^^~

Received a call in the morning from McGuyver. He had removed his welded Differential, and only to remember that i want to see the LSD going in his axle. So he call-ed me to hurry to his place.

Both differential was on the floor when i arrived. And he already fix-ed the ring gear onto the limited slip diff~ say he it was a really tight fit, so no worries on the center alignment problem.

then we started the assembling~ ⋯⋯(^.^)

The tedious part is to set the pressure of the bearing at the both side and at the same time giving a proper clearance between the drive pinion and the ring gear so it wouldn't press agains each others too hard~ and causes wearing at high rates.

I thought this was going to be a boring day since business was a bit to the slow side these days~ But who knows, surprise came knocking at the door, not one but two~ ^^

First is my old track junckie friend, Lao San came and get a fix on his old Nexus suspension which i made for him. It's literally old cause he's been running on it for 3+ years now. And still going strong with few services since the installation.

I was having a bit of fun last friday~ and i accidentally created this~ XD~ a LONG 11~ and the mark is still on the floor till today~ despite of the rain last night~ haha~

If you were wondering what happened that day~ It was just a small 150m sprint i was playing with my worker's 4G93 wira~ :P which he said to had added some horsie to it and had won a mivec-4g93 a week earlier~

Though i wasn't really in the wind to drag with him for he's in a high mood~ but he's been bragging it for the whole week and when my friend fuji came on friday, he went on and bugg-ed him. So i finally took up the challenge~ (had to show him some colors :P)~

As the first round went, i was leading by moderate distance - for my worker had a bad launch~ into second round we goes~

In first~ i was a car length ahead. As i almost finish revving into my second gear, and i was about to lift to used both engine breaking and brakes (for the road wasn't that long :P) my throttler stuck-ed and the engine still revving at full steam. I had to cut the engine and slam on the brake hard and guess what~? (>_<) DENG rear brakes wasn't responding as it should be! Kick the brake again as i didn't had vacuums assist... the engine was cut-ed remember?

And walla~ left brake lock-up earlier than right and the car start swaying to the right, and looking as mango closing in to the curb~ only thought in my mind was "oh no, my ONI~!!!"

and with a small 'pop' sound mango stopped as the tyre hit slightly on the curb. Good heaven it just scratch a little on the rim's edge without bigger harm done~ phew......

Now mango will be going back to Mcguver's place for a brake re-tuning to correct it's front-rear bias~

till then~ happy driving to all~ ^^ and be-careful when 'fooling' around~ hahaha~

Just starting to throw out rubbish and in the first few boxes of ancient artifact, i dug this out from no-where~ XD~

Was amazed by if a few year back. It is belong yo McGuyver where he pass it to me years ago when he cannot figured out what it is.

Ya, i know~ :P we were bored back then XD~ After much research, i found out that this bugger belongs to a T-18 axle with 6" rings and same 20 spine as KE70's ~

And i took it apart to check were it's a one way~ 1.5 way or a 2 way~ and...... definitely a 2 way~ ^^

All the clutches was still in good conditions~

And the pinions as well~

20 spine~ will try to see if it would fit's McGuyver's TE72's(KE70 liftback) original axle~

Went McGuyver's place yesterday~ Good to see his TE72 on it's foot again~ but he tell me he had some miss-haps a night before~ XD~ fuel wasn't coming in well while he was doing some 'illegal' donuts @ Batu Kawan area~ lol~ Might be a faulty AC-pump. that's why it's parking @ the roadside. hahahha~

But he did some polishing to the car~ and darn, look how straight the body line is, sure mango will be really envy on that~ But darn, my old 13" Enkei looks good on his TE~ anyway, mango wasn't able to wear those anymore since the brake upgrades~

Just took some shot at an alley where i buy my lunch today~ the sky was a bit moody but the light was perfect on mango's matt body~ how i wish i can drive mango under the moody soft light in New zealand or scotland~ mango's matt black would be astoundingly beautiful~ ^^

And another shot from the side~ i'm getting pretty stuck with the ONI these days. Make mango looks 10 years younger~ lol~

Btw, mango's axle is start making fairly lots of noise. I think it's time to get the final drive's crown gear checked. Will do it after i came back from KL next week~ till then~

Going to McGuyver's place this morning~ and saw his car were on stands all 4 corners~ he had taken out all the brakes and links for servicing~

And he slightly painted the rear axle (he is very picky on how the car looks

And set everything in for a new sets of absorbers for the front~

What else i would let him runs on? APM? Mando? NO~!!!! Surely it had to be a pure TKA breed~ lol~ Genuine Touge spec Special.Absorers.Modification absorbers from TKA~ XD~ (sorry for some self-AD here~ :P)

Well... as we were planing to use the slotted rotor which was taken out from my AE86's knuckle~ but seems like it won't fit on KE70's knuckle so idea abandoned~

We revert back to use the original KE70's brakes~ since McGuyver will still runs his 4K under the hood for a while, we think it should be able to deliver enough breaking power with a servo and pad upgrades~ And off we go to Penang island to pick up some 'nice' parts for his car~ ^^

All and all~ it's time to fill up the tummy for it's pass lunch time~ And~ we drove to the only Burger King in Penang~ about the location...... sorry i can't tell the places's name. Just let you know it's close to M-Power's shop and in between the sea and Jelutong highway~

Love their burgers but there's only one outlet in the island~ non off-shore around north malaysia~ (>_<)

And after a few hours of chit-chat and going around a few friend's shops (also chit-chatting) and taking a hefty dinner @ Char Ling Park~ and we head for home ~ a tired but enjoy-able day....

Was @ Gurney drive - Penang yesterday for one of my good friend's wedding dinner~ went there quite early for afraid parking space may be scare during peak hours (6pm~11pm)~ I park me car just beside the restaurant and walk 350m down the lane to Gurney plaza to get myself a cup of nice Cappuccino Frappuccino and playing my PSP to kill off the time before heading back to the venue.

And this beauty catches my eyes.

The bridal car is actually belong to Raymond, who runs a petrol station around Butterworth. I last seen it was a year ago and wasn't this complated yet~ And blime, what a beauty it had became~

When the dinner was done~ and i take leave. As my puppy had instructed me to get her a McD burger for breakfast, so a detour to Autocity is in-avoidable~ And never cross my mind that i would meet Fujiwara83 there~ As we sit down and take a nice chap~ hence his friend rush over and told us a news......

Mc-D is closing down in a short while~ and DARN! i haven order my puppy's burger! A quick knock at the locking up door and ran to the counter...... there's only two burger left, one mc-chicken deluxe and another mc-chicken(she wanted a BIG Mc...... looks like she would be really disappointed). What would i said? TAKE BOTH~! lol~

This morning~ i received a call from McGuyver~ (i was still sleeping XD) and ask me if i were free this afternoon~ he's going to pick his car up and needed a ride. (WHAT?? what is he getting?) And a good friend never say NO~! lol~ most of my brain was giving the 38 sign btw~

So i pick McGuyver up and went all the way to Bukit Mertajam~ okok, not really far away~ lol AND the moment we were close to our destination~ i was like~ NO WAY~! he's getting a TE72 (KE70 in malaysia for it's 4K engine)~~~ another new member in da club~!

The body part looks all still sticking together well, and the engine roar in a single twist of the key~ just a bit to Mcguyver's dislike was the welded axle~

Summer Cleaning~

After driving with the current settings for a year and so~ i start to feel that mango wasn't responding to the throttler as he used to be before the body restoration..... perhaps i had to get some 'upgrades' for mango had putting on quite some weight ^^ (now fully carpeted and an extra 60kg of steels from the body strengthening + rusted panel replacement)

So as usual, i send mango to McGuyver's hand to get it clean up and do some minor adjustment~(it was actually a week before lol~) and he just send me the pic yesterday~

We removed the original SVT head and take a look at the piston~

And to what we had been guessing...... thick layer of carbons had build up on it~

and another look at the head as well, it looks ok as my oil change was very frequent~ around every 3000~3500KM on semi 10W40 oil~

So the cleaning started, start by brushing off the carbon from the piston~

Then comes the minor 'upgrades'~ BT head with polished port~ and CLEAN up nicely with alkaline base cleaning fluid~

My HKS plug also received a nice bath~ hohoho~

And after all was cleaned~ in the new gasket, which is not that expensive for something that would last this much pressure and it's ORIGINAL from toyota~ ^^

And the clean and polish-ed BT head~ It did give me a bit more torque @ lower rpm, 2.5k~ 5k with better respond @ 4-5 gear range~

And the best part is~ It save on fuel compare to before the cleaning~ (^.^)~ yeah~!!!!!! more $$$ to pay for other parts~ lol~

5.45A.M.~ hohoho~ can't remember when's last time i wake up this early in the morning ^^. And leave the house @ 6.45am. Then meet up with fujiwara 83 @ Changkat Jering around 7.45~ and we were on our way to Kg Gajah. It was nice to drive this early morning, enjoying the cold breeze of the country side winding road~

And finally arrived at KGC just little after 9~ we were driving pretty slow, just to enjoy the drive.

My bro was driving my Ford Ranger this time, bringing the tyres and tool box ^^can't afford to run A048 on road and some more afraid it's gonna rain, for A048 is bloody slippery in wet (>_<)

Some cars already arrived much earlier than us~ hoho~ but again.... where's the real RETRO???

Ah Han and the girls was busy 'checking' us in~ hohohoho~

Every contestant was feasible to become a member of PMSC (perak motor sport club- if i wasn't mistaken~ )

It was soon start filling ups with cars around 10am

I only took the C (1600cc) group~ btw, i was just went there to stretch my muscle, getting old ya know~ lol And mango hasn't let loose it's breath for a long time already.

This car i like~ A KE26 with 86's heart and axle~

Love the rims~ really old school~ DEEP dish STEEL wheels~ deng.

Btw, this is some real retro, too bad it wasn't going down the track at all...... (most of them didn't)

For 4 years i had been visiting KGC and run the Terong-Bruas-Titi Gantung-Kg Gajah route and never i knew there's actually a chinese stall selling proper chinese food in Bruas (>_<)~ wth~!!!

Finally, reaching Changkat jering tol means only an hours drive away from home~ Sweet cosy bed awaits me..... lol~

It's had been 482 days since my last post~ and 545 days since my last track day (>_<)~ really miss all the track actions~ burning rubbers~ fume of toasted clutch and brakes~

For i was ensuring i get myself a nice and cozy family first~ ^^ With my wife and my new born daughter staying cosily in the house~ I got myself a GREEN LIGHT from me wife~ XD~ yeah~!

So i dug up my OLD Advan Neova A048, and i do means very old indeed. It's a 05 tyre... (shh... dun tell JPJ) and had them transfer to a new set of rims - from 14" 6jj to 14" 6.5jj, which is much proper for a 195/65 tyre.

Just hope these baby still had some soul in it~ ^^ hohoho~ KCG, here i come XD~

Phew~ CNY is coming~ and mango is......

Finally, after long time of waiting coz he(ah heng)'s busy, he(mcguyver)'s busy, he(bro sham)'s busy, and i- was busy.So finally, after all the ordeal, today mango's finally got the heart back in.Or not yet??? yaiks~

The gasket wasn't aligned properly with the intake port.

Good thing Mcguyver had a spare 20V gasket lying around. and it look nicely fit now ^^

Was admiring mango's nicely curved 4-1 extractor. :P

And the newly painted T-50 gearbox with it's new paint, and some stain from the coolant.

But still, we were still waiting for the blacktop throttler body which i forget to bring from my factory..... so job stalled. Will continue tomorrow after i 'remember' to bring over the throttler body *_*.

3 layers of black paint with 2 layer of special matt-coating. finally, mango's new outfit was finally done. Mango's windscreen will be fitted on tomorrow and slowly all the parts taken out will be slowly putting back.

Soon mango will have his heart start beating and his muscle flex-ed and start galloping on his hoofs again~ XD till then~

Was closing shop early today~ 60% (6 out of 10) worker of mine didn't turn out today, so i give a suprise visits to mango~ and guess what,Mango is getting his first layer of rotton color.

Already putting on the basic later which give him the black look will add more later and eventually it would turn to 'dead' black color but with smooth surface.below is some more shot~

went check on mango just now~ see how's the progress going... most of the part had covered in anti-rust foundation paint already. now waiting it to dried completely then will start the cementing.
engine bay also clean-ed and painted with anti-rust coat.
Ah Heng said mango should be ready to get his first coating in a few days time. ^^ if the weather is nice ~ :P hoho~

An altered bad news came from the paint-man~ hoho, one week back~ @_@ i wasn't able to upload any photo to blogger this whole week~! darn malaysia's connection.

So this is the news,
the passenger side's body line was slightly curved-in, maybe due to excesses welding and re paneling.
The roof of mango was slightly angel-ed, like 5~7 degree at the point of it's center-beam. A sign of he might been had a heavy fall onto drain or something hard hit underneath.
things was slightly better, but still there's some de-formation on the roof as well.

So, after much discuss with my paint-man, he advised that i paint mango in mat black, it will covered up the deformity, at least.... So, i'll keep mango's current tune setting but will added a bit of comfort to it~ :P (air-con and some audio) hoho~

Just come back from checking mango's work detail for the last time. Just to make sure there's no over shoot work or un-welded panel. The only additional panel which had been added is the reinforcement of the pan-hard rod's bracket.
This should make sure it won't bend or wobble during high-speed cruising.
Finally all the body widening panel was in place and blend-in with the body slim line~ hoho~

look at the arch from a nother angle. Only some minor adjustment remain and mango was expected to be picked up on friday afternoon~

T_T which means a few ~K~ of $ gonna be falling out of my wallet by then *_*

HDD almost crash~ _

My pc's HDD was making an awful lot of noise, thus pass experience told me that it's about to give way~ so i had order this baby two weeks ago (seems like most PC store dun even know about it :P and of cause~ NO STOCK ~ XD),

I love the massive cooling fin come with it~

I will update more on mango, and mango2 as soon as i get my pc up-and-running and finish transfer everything to a external storage. T_T 1TB is bloody lot of data~

Door taken out~ hoots off, and all the available panal is going to taken out as well, mango 2 is ready for his in-out-through body paint with one layer of foundation/anti-rust layer and then will be painted with matt-black~ (my own absorber paint :P)
taking out the door to fit to mango 1, cause it's in better condition. Since mango-2 is only for 'play-ing' purposes, he will get give all the better parts to mango-1, which i will be making a road friendly model.
Ah Heng is cleanning up the rust which form in the years under the canvas which the previous owner had left it to be.
While cleaning the rust on the rear pillar, i saw something i had never seen before~ the original welding (IN COPPER~!) of the roof to the chassis's pillar.
Working hard to take out the side window which i will keep it as a spare for mango-1 and later will replace with acrylic panel, ^_^ if can find polycarbonate it's better~ fufufu~~~ more to come next week when i took mango back from Ah Lai's place~

Saw this on ZTH just now. An display item in Toyota history garage in Megaweb, Tokyo Japan.
It's an original Toyota 15K rpm tachometer. Dunno from which vehicle, but the red line only start from 12K rpm onward *_* darn~

wish i could put my hand on one of this babdy ^.^ and get a engine to match it as well~ :P fufufu~

No-2 is taken home... (not yet)~

I run away from work for a day just to pick up No-2 from the workshop in Bidong. By the time i arrived at bidong with the carrier, they still haven put on the front suspension so i can drag it up the carrier. So i had to wait under the scorching sun *_*~
While they putting on the thing and the front steering, guess what they did without the dash-board+bracket to hold on the steering~
Typical old-school workshop would do, tying it up using wire~! lol~ then the loading process start~
half way up the carrier, a nother unexpected even happen-ed. The cheap-lak muffler was grinding on the tarmac.... and a peek under the car guess what we found out~! NO SPRING! darn the so call brother of the previous owner had taken the spring~!
So a lot of man power had to used to lift the rear to clear off the ground/muffler~ you can see a clear white line dragging on the ground~ ^.^ and after some really tense struggling, No-2 was on the carrier, yet the driver stated another concern... No hand-brake... he said the car would swing left and right without the hand brake. So as the result, he can't drive fast on the return trip.
And on the way back, we were going like 70km/h all the way till NT. and the funny part is the rear boot pop up when the carrier overtaken by a trailer~ lol~ the win pressure actually push the boot up even though it was without the rear glass on~ No-2 will be on going a full paint job at Ah Heng's place and prep for installing all the basic parts for my beginner drifting lesson in Batu Kawan.

Though mango's chassis rework is almost completion, but since it's fully hand-made so there's quite a few minor adjustment work had to be attend to.
And it's not an easy task as well~ just altered a small portion on the top left on the arch like this~
to this already taken one day's work...... it shouldn't be long.... 7~9 working days will cover-ed everything......

Finally~ the work on mango was continued..... (after the head-man of ah lai went on strike :P - complaining too much work was did on mango but too little commission.......)
Look nice with the front bumper in already~ hoho~ still need some fiber job to make it perfect fit.
A close-up look on the side of the bumper and the fender, it fits nicely~ a lot of effort had put into this ^^
The rear bumper was also put-on. fit in nicely as well~ more photo will be upload later when i send two better door to fit on mango and fabricate the new side mirror in.

I wasn't sleep well last night *_*~ reason for it ^^ you got it when you saw the title.

Mango's new tail lamp finally arrived~
It's original parts from Toyota which had been stored away for more then 10 years~ but even the box was kept in tip-top condition~

Good heaven i manage to get both side~
Original Toyota Badge molded on the shinny surface of the lamp.
Just keep the part number and you might manage to find another pair somewhere in someone's shop's store~

Finally, Berry is back from her new wiring set-up, all 4 brakes serviced with new brake pad+brake pump, new seats front and rear(Mira L200 two door), new handbrake(mod-ed from AE101) and running like original~ ^^ and my wife was happily ever.

First thing i saw when i arrive is the really strong-looking front perfectly installed (welded) ~
for sure i won't need to worried about my caster-arm's bracket flexing when i accelerating and braking.

But then Ah Lai show me some bad news.......(>_<)
the side panel was so rusted, it almost brake off~ this is the bottom, only hold on by a few pieces of metal.... also rusty~
this is the top part, already brake away from the roof~ for what i see and some ah Lai's assumption, the previous owner (a mechanic) has send the car to some village panel workshop and had it made over with really tight budget. That's y mango was covered with a lot of thin-n-cheaply-made-and-badly-welded-panel all over the body.
And this is the complete drain on mango's other side of the roof which had been done. you can see the drain is clean and deep compare to the previous roof which is shallow and full with putty.... ~

*take as much time as you need Lai~ all i wan is a healthy mango which could company me for as long as he could take ^_^~ Mango is my first car as well as my first love (car)~

Because all the dial and light on berry wasn't working AT ALL~! so a trip to McGuyver's place is a must *_*......
on the road berry go~ i had to tow him there though berry still can run on his 4 wheels~ but without the signal and brake indicator, it's extremely dangerous to make the 20km hike~
Arriving at Mcguyver's operation factory~ at Bukit Minyak. Mcguyver is now using a friends premises and accepting all model of car for repair (the expertise was still in 4ag engine, 20v, 16v, supercharged and on~)
putting berry down and he will stay there for a few weeks untill all the wiring was done.

I didn't went visit mango last week coz i wasn't feeling well~ so yesterday die die also went to Lai's place.

And saw he already started on mango's roof~ which he show me the original pieces
Darn~ all rotten, and very obvious last owner had done some work on it as well, but really 'rough-n-cheap' job :P~
The time i arrive Lai is working on the front structure where the caster arm connected (dunno what it call :P) It not what i though he would did like he said earlier, he told me he would take a pre-fabricated taiwan structure and reinforce with L-bar. Instead~
He custom the whole bar out using something he found a few days before~ ^.^
An 1.3mm thick square bar came from......
Guess what~! Our very own house's Gate's support beam~ lol~
almost complete~ that's 1.5 day's work *_*.... (hope he didn't charge me too expensive for that....)

During last 'head-operation'

I painted mango's cam cover with my TKA iconic green. But i wasn't really satisfied with the result. So i took out the spare cam cover and re-do the paint again~ except this time... more seriously~ (^^,)
Only the part with original black paint was painted. 2K base paint with slow solvent to achieve flat and smooth surface. Then let it dry under the hot sun for 4~5 hours.
The result under normal fluorescent lighting.
The center part where the plug cover was is left un painted. So it's easier to maintain ^^~

Life was boring.... with out mango at my side. So i went to any petrol-head's favorite hanging place, 'chop-shop' and saw this lying around.
Actually it had been lying there for ages. probably since march. And no one would take it home. Why? one of the woofer is 'faulty' aka broken~ * but a closer examination, i found out the cause was the woofer's spider bracket came off - possibly due to excessive 'booming' nothing not fixable here ^.^~~

So i offer my fello seng, a price he would go mad for the subwoofer(2X-orion XTR3)+amp (boyds300)+box (^^,) but he'd let it go at the end :P lol~ who would buy a piece of broken sub woofer??!!
After some patience patch job, the xtr3 was up and running again ^.^ and it work fine~ clean and solid bass start pumping out of the box.

you all must be asking if i was to put the subwoofer in mango? The answer is YES. i need the extra weight to put mango's rear speed down on the pavement. and it was perfectly heavy~ hohoho~

p.s. - 37KG in exec. It's a darn 1.2inche thick HDF board afterall lol~

Finally, meet the culprit which had made so much noise since Dec 2008 track (drift) day.
Torn rear wheel fender arch. lol~ this bugger had been clinking noisily and the fact which force me to send mango in to fix it's chassis.

And Lai fix it in a jiffy (one week of work actually :P)

At least the inner part of mango is almost done. The other part should be able to complete in one months time.

Went to lai's place with Mcguyver and my brother ^^. They said they also miss mango. So we went to see how mango was healing. Seems they had start working on the rear bumper mod.
More work on the rear.
Rear floor panel done
front floor panel done.
Engine bay and distributor setting hole done.
The front end now look tough and feel tough too. The fender won't flex and bend like last time.
I'm a happy man ^.^

Go on check mango again and what came into my eyes shocked me O_O~

the whole side panel was re-build-ed~ holy gosh~ as Lai said he cannot bare with the 'rotten' part. As he promise me a 10 years road going chassis.
And more panel at the rear were chopped off as well...
They even looked inside the main structure and had it strengthen with bars to support the cross-member and the engine's twisting power.

so far for now, looks like mango's period of stay in the 'hospital' would had to extended.

After seeing this 'bugger' at one of my favorite foreman's place, and he give us an offer we cannot resist, me and Mcguyver was planing to take it home. But too bad it's still hanging in mid-air, without the brake system. Which the workshop owner yet to put it back... So we still had to wait for a few day before we can take it to another place to restore it to a stage which we can take it to puspacom (malaysia's inspection centre) to get road worthy approval and did the name changing process.

Business was slow lately~ and it's scorching hot out there~ then i took out my engine and see what i can fiddle with~ and then i kinda feel like it's a bit dirty in the eyes~

So i call my worker who was too occupied with doing nothing to start cleaning it up~ with some special carbon-bonding chemical.
Halfway into the cleaning~ using the chemical and a tooth brush~ "^_^"~ it start to shine again~

i even polish the valve cap to it's original shine-in-perfection~ i just love shinny parts lol~
The complete cleaning version of my mango's new engine-head-to-be. Will be starting to port-polish it later this weekend.

Mango getting a new bumper~

After looking all over the place for a good bumper for mango (my TE72) and with no success, Mcguyver suggest that i go for a newer alternative. We convert bumper from newer car. And this was he found for me.
A front bumper from AE86, Levin version. Perfect fit but had to do some minor body work to the fender to suite it.

And we drop of the bumper to the Lai body work to check on mango's progress,
i was happy to see that the actual work on mango had been started. and it was progressing well.
a lot of the old rusted panel had chopped out and replace with new metal plate which 'hack' with the original grove line.
more work done here~
and the new side skirt panel as well. all replaced and coated with special chemical i brought from a friends in ship yard.

After a long chat with Ah Lai and did a lot of changes to mango's body, we headed back to close my shop.
I'll be back to see mango with a few parts which needed to customize his body next week, so will update soon with more photos ^^.

think back during primary school, we will be really happy and show our parents the number 100.

But when years pass, that number become less important and eventually won't stimulate any emotion vibration to me anymore. Just that~

when i first started this blog, i keep asking myself, would i or wouldn't i be able to keep posting on this blog? will i just post a few then just forget about it? But Bahahaha~

i had reach-ed the 100 mark, which is quite surprise even myself. But thanks to mango and all the fun time i had spending to fix and upgrade him. I was able to share the bits of happiness working on a old car with my friends who were out there reading my blog.

Here, i speak a thousand thanks to everyone who had visited my blog and posted your comment. Mango will keep growing and recover into his hay-day state ^.^ Let keep the finger cross , would you?

I was in Ah Wei (12/TanV6)'s place to get my mango's insurance done, while waiting for the bloody slow internet connection, Ah Wei cheer me up with a present he receive from his Hong Kong friend.
OK, you will sure know what's that already right ;)

Another look from further away~ It's a Model car made to a precise which i didn't sure about the actual proportion. But believe me, it's very precision~
A look from the front. you can turn the head lamp either open or close, but the wiper won't move. Now~ pop the hood...
The detail of the model is so good~
This is the base/back bone of the model, the wheels spin freely and it's height and caster adjustable.
Even the Rims was Watanabe-RS style with a really 'huge' disc rotor
The interior was a bit simple, but still bring out the original layout of AE86
Even the gear knob and e-brake was out in together with the 3 padels~
and Darn they were good, the dashboard was printed with actual meter reading and the rear view mirror had reflection! I told Ah Wei if he got contact his friend, gonna ask him to get me another one! I WAN ONE~!

It's has been 3 weeks since i feels like coming in to start posting something, it's kinda bored without mango around. Life seems pretty plain and simple.... untill yesterday~
my neighbor's car was covered by those pretty pink flower, which i didn't know what's the tree's name. And it does done that every year, telling us that spring is in the air ^.^ The only thing diffrent for this year is~

it BLOSSOM a lot nicer that previous year, and the year before and the year before ^-^

hope this is a good sign which we would be able to have a good year a head of us. Seeing that so much had happened this few months.

A very good and prosperous Spring to all my friends out there~ Happy always ;)

The first time i saw my naked mango in the morning light, he seems so miserable. I feel so sorry for letting him staying under the hot sun for so long - exposing his front chassis in the hot sun and rain T-T~

Finally i had time to pick him up and send him to 'hospital' to fix his wear-ed and torn body.
hooking up to the tow truck (with a 'ke-po' indian child who we dunno who's watching dangerously close)
tie-ing up mango's axle to the support beam, so mango won't accidently fall off the support beam.
checking the steering lock and tie on the 'evo-style' side tow plate ^.^
on the way ...
after 2 hours of slow drive (i ask my uncle to drive slowly, make me heart-ache listening to mango's cried going over hump and bad road surface on just two wheels...)

The boss Ah Lai was a really good dude. (compare to his brother :P - just plain rude) he slowly discuss with me on what's suppose to be done to mango, as i wanted mango to be able to survive harsh track day condition. He give me some idea of places to strengthen and places needed rebuild and so.

At least i had found someone who was willing to take mango in to work on the complex and time consuming re-work.

Will update soon after i finish building mango's fiber mudguard. ^.^ till then~

McGuyver never ran out of surprises . today, he show up with a 'very interesting' thing as that what he told me when he reach my place.

A TE72 face grill~ and it's still in very good condition with the original SE badge on it! >_< darn i'm so happy, because i'm planing to restore mango to his prime stage. with all the original parts put back on him. Thousand thanks bro! ya the best.

Two days after i send mango to Mcguyver's place, i got a SOS from him. So i went and saw this~

Mango had completely strip-ed down. all the interior was taken out, wiring were out as well and the last thing to took out is~
the heart of the sweet mango~ ^.^
Since we dun have much proper tools, so the only way we were to get the engine out was jack up the empty chassis and drag the heart out under it.
and few minutes of extreme labour, it was out ~ *_* 4age-20v sure was heavy.
and now mango was ready to send to the body shop for a make over. i doubt most of his panel needed changing and reinforce. lot's more to do on the body. * we stop for cup of coffee before putting back the cross-member.

Something to share with you all ^_^~ An AE86's strut.

this is also the first time i saw the pillow-mount with hi-low adjustable.
though the adjustable length is only limited to a mere 1.5 inches~
but it's all you need to adjust while changing a quick setting during track day~ without needed to jack-up the car and take off the wheels ^.^ simply simplicity~

Today was a non-busy day, so i decided to pick McGuyver and Yus up to go pick up Yus's TE72 from the body workshop. And off we go on 11a.m. sharp. 5 minutes later, we were stuck in a 'rare' traffic jam from auto-city heading to penang bridge. 50 minutes was wasted there *_*......

After we reach the place like 1 and 1/2 hours later, just to learn that the boss wasn't in. Heck~ we hit another wall... a detour to Sg Petani is on, since we was just 10 minutes away.

And soon enough we find ourself lost in the fast development of Sg Petani township. Plus my TiBo was showing me blank screen for all the roads was only been build in this year or two ^^|||... darn...

After a lot of phone call and a lot of U-turn, we reach one of the destination. A chop shop we were looking for this whole day. The first thing come into our eyes was this beautiful AE101 Wagon.

It was really well kept and wash~ love the white color.
As usual, we all start our routine, hunting for stuff~ ^.^ and i'm not let down.
I saw a super charged 4age 16V
which shock us when we look at the other side *_* darn~ it's a SuperTurbo 4age.

there's lot of stuff there, but all were very 'well priced' so we left empty handed.
